| There
are two types of individual state practice authorities
for AAs: |
- Regulatory (green shaded states):
A law exists within the state that defines the AA
scope of practice, sets standards for who can practice
and gives a regulatory board the authority to maintain
those standards
- Typically the state board of medicine is the
regulating entity
- Delegatory (blue shaded states):
The Medical Practice Act of a particular state is
written in such a way that it allows an anesthesiologist
to delegate anesthesia care tasks to a qualified individual,
in this case an AA
